A pair of blackwork bookmark designs which include a variety of traditional motifs such as acorns, roses, pomegranates, birds, leaves and flowers so typical of the blackwork embroidery of seventeenth century England.
Ideal as an introduction to blackwork embroidery or as practice pieces for the larger Carnation and Acorn band samplers (see previous two designs), each bookmark is worked solely in black stranded cotton and can be personalised; the Acorns design with a name and year, and the Rose design with two or three initials and year.
Full alphabets and numerals are included with the charts. |

Suitable for all levels of experience, including beginners.
Ideal for a first blackwork project, being small and quick to complete.
Size:
On 14 count fabric the stitched area of each bookmark measures approximately 2.2" x 7.1" (5.6cm x 18.1cm).
Stitches used:
Backstitch, French knots in lettering.
Please note: designs require a substantial amount of backstitching.
